Landscape Design & Implementation
Learning Gardens Laboratory, SE Portland
Managed 4-acre urban farm and garden site including 1-acre dedicated to intensive vegetable production. The photo shows a row of summer cover crops (buckwheat and phacelia).

Clackamas Extension Office, Oregon City
This site was formerly an expanse of lawn with regular use of herbicides. We removed sod and installed native plants to improve habitat attracting the swallowtail butterfly on on Cascade penstemon shown in the photo.

Mount Madonna School (1999-2007)
While I was working as a science teacher, the school built a new 10-acre campus. I designed and installed the landscape and engaged students in site work to help the new site blend into the forested surroundings.

Food Innovation Center, NW Portland
Designed and installed pollinator garden beds at an urban, OSU Extension facility in Portland. Plant choices include many natives along with non-native plants such as lavender.

Home Landscape, SW Portland
Over the years, I've invested in my own property installing patios, awnings, and fences along with many of my favorite plants. The photo shows a robust patch of Pacific bleeding heart, one of my favorite plants for dry shade.

Summit Springs Design (1994-1998)
Fresh out of college, I partnered with property owners to design, install, and manage a 1/2-acre vegetable production garden on a steep hillside. We installed terraces and created a sun bowl and made 100s of yards of compost to improve the soil for intensive vegetable crops.
